In this Aurora Boulevard area there aren’t many unique food stops to go to. Most of the restaurants are situated in the malls around. For a different vibe and authentic Japanese, Yutaka Izakaya should be on your must visit list. A senior Japanese is around, facilitating and most of the time working on the sushi counter.
The sashimi platter solved all our craving. As it was presented well, it also made a fresh taste impression. Go ahead and add more wasabi as their version is on the light side. Feel free to place it on top of the tuna, salmon, scallops, prawn, mackerel, squid or even the uni.
Pardon my almost empty Sukiyaki shot as I forgot to take a photo of it full. When we asked if staff can portion it for us, they declined. They admitted that owner refuses for preference purposes. Is it a Japanese way? Anyway, this sweet soup was wonderful with its strips of beef lean and tender.
For dessert we had the Ice Cake. It’s layers of graham and mango, sweetened with chocolate and has vanilla ice cream on top. This one was a good deal at Php 70 only.

Futomaki,
Tempura,
Tonkotsu.
These are our usual orders in Yutaka Izakaya. They have the best tempura ! I really really live it. I can finish the biggest serving. Oh. It has this different breading. Light and crunchy. you must try it !

Haven't been back in awhile... This review is for their new dish, the Wagyu Steak. My past reviews have always been all praises until I ordered this 🏼 last night
Big mistake!
After ordering my usual Chawanmushi and Chirashi, I spotted this new Wagyu Steak on the menu @480... I really had high hopes and was excited to give it a try, I tell the server I wanted it Rare and they said ok... My steak arrives medium well and was tough to bite Who the heck does that to Wagyu?! or maybe it wasn't Wagyu at all, who knows?!
🙄 It was so tough I couldn't tell, parang tapa Ang dating
What a waste of money! Pfffft....
Note to self : Never order Wagyu here! I also noted that they increased their prices, not so affordable anymore. I think i'm better off eating at those buffet places w/c offer more choices for the same cost ☹️

Sorry no pix with the review... Will update one with photo
Anyway first... I think this is one of the most affordable descent jap food I the metro
Usual order is chirashi special (~600) it includes miso soup, that tastes good (not diluted or something), jap rice topped with the sweet egg and something am not sure but yummy, veg tempura, lani salad and sashimi. A very filling bento at an affordable price. Usual don't order drinks, the house tea is also good.
A must try if you are a jap food lover
