Cheap Japanese restaurant in Powerplant, and the price was definitely reflected in the food we ordered. Haven't dined here in years. I remember it being an ok, likable place. But this meal was pretty disappointing.

Ramen was more of just clear soup. Their tamago was overcooked in both our 2 orders. Kuroda is better. Imagine that! The tempura coating was very sub par. I remember liking the ramen here before. I wonder if my palate changed or if they did. Service was great though, servers were on the lookout for whatever we needed.

Maybe I'll order something else next time. But it'll take a long while before I re-visit.

This is my first visit to Zaifu. I passed it often enough every time I would go to Rockwell but I never tried it because there were so many other Good Japanese restaurants at Rockwell. But this time, I decided to try it. I ordered Enigardo tempura, sukiyaki, and unaju. And they were all good. Despite the very reasonable prices, the servings were quite big.

Been to Zaifu a couple of times and I must be coming back because I enjoy their food. The only thing that keeps me from eating there is that the place is a bit too crowded especially on Sundays.

They have a lot of choices on their menu and if you're looking for a complete value-for-money Japanese meal, do try their bento boxes. The mixed tempura bento box is so worth it! The box comes with 4 big-sized tempura pcs (2 shrimps, 1 fish and 1 vege tempura). The meal also comes with nicely steamed Japanese rice, miso soup and teppanyaki items like mixed veges and a slice of lean meat. Plus you also get a small scoop of mashed potatoes and some nice refillable house tea (roasted rice tea). I had one fulfilling lunch with this bento box.128076🏼 Will try their other bento boxes next time.

Went here for Father's day and we're glad that we had lunch in this place. We've been eating here since decades ago and they've really maintained the quality of food and great service that they give. We ordered their chicken terriyaki, sushi and sashimi combination (ordered by pcs), chicken meal for kids, shrimp tempura and miso soup. Delicious! Btw, we ate here so we'd have easy access to the churros place 128521

One of the longest running Japanese restaurants in Rockwell. Good service and good food! Try the Crackling Salmon Roll as well as their Cold Soba Noodles.

Indeed, one of the classic Japanese Restaurants in Makati. It was Friday and we want some ramen for dinner. Since we're in Power plant, we had a chance to dine in here.

The verdict:

The place: at first i thought the place is small enough but its wide and i was surprise that they have low dining tables. I'd like to seat on the low dining setting however, when we arrived there, those areas are occupied.

The food: we ordered beef ramen and gyoza. To be honest, the beef ramen is just like a regular hot beef noodles served with half egg although the shredded beef is quite full. For its price, okay na.
The gyoza, it was fried well but no special sauce, just get your own soy sauce. I'd like to get maki and don buri meals next time! :-)

The price: budget friendly and they have promo for ramen at 20% discount i think for happy hours between 2-5pm ask the waiters if you want a bowl of ramen.

The service: very accommodating and kind. Also they always greet you with a smile! :-)

-xoxo

There's only two Jap restos in Powerplant Mall - Sumo Sam and Zaifu. And between the two... I'd choose Zaifu, hands down.

Now the food was just okay, nothing to go out and rave about.. Really just enough to get your Jap fix.

The "spicy" tuna salad that I had, wasn't spicy at all. Had to to add a whole lot of togarashi to get a kick. They used good cuts of sashimi though.

Also had the tenzaru soba, which was good. Though I wished they added more vegetable tempura.

For the price - i'd rather go to Nihon. But since I was stuck in Rockwell for errands - this would suffice.

One of the classic Powerplant restaurants. Japanese food done right, reasonably priced thats why it's still open after all these years.

I go for the lunch sets which vary every weekday and the don buri combinations for other days.

They now have a teppanyaki table with a side vent which I like since the smoke doesn't go to your eyes.

Just found out today that they had reopened. Yay! Had a delicious Japanese meal - katsudon and miso soup - at an affordable price. Simple, no frills dining. Missed this place!

Good and quick service at this place. Tried the shoyuramen (huge bowl!) and good salmon sashimi. Brewed coffee was good as well. Iced tea was refreshing.

Will go back to this place. Nice place to eat at if you need tummy filling soup but you're in a rush. :)

Teppanyaki tables were added and some of their interiors changed. The were items added on their menu but we were informed that they still have the old menu as well. Prices increased but its still okay. Its still affordable than most Japanese restos.
We had tempura and beef teriyaki. They both still taste pretty much the same but this time we noticed that there was just little shrimp on the tempura. It was more batter than shrimp.

Ordered the sushi sushi mix bento for P189. I was craving for sashimi but wasn't too hungry. I just needed to feed the crave. It wasn't fresh. The maguro had no sweetness to it and it was old, not fresh, most likely frozen. Curry chicken was also gross. Just a moosh of crap. Don't eat here! Not worth the money. Go to Rustans and just buy their sushi. Wish I did that instead.

The Maki was good. Please don't order the ramen. The chicken shoyu ramen should be taken off the menu. I have no problem with their serving size just that I felt like the ramen was done without love. Without anything more than chicken, pechay, and noodles in it, it really tasted blunt. Disappointing. Price is cheap for Japanese dining but it's not going to be your really authentic Japanese experience.

Needed a quick snack before my salon appointment so Kal K and I grabbed a quick bite of sushi.

I ordered California maki.. While it was good.. I didn't like that it had egg in it. It was missing a certain flavor/texture because of it.

Khalil ordered dynamite roll (I think) which had tempura pieces in the sushi. I enjoyed his order more than mine. Yummy!

We spent about P400 for our orders. I always loved zaifu and would probably go back but skip the California maki.
