That ₱8 peso burger on Zark's most recent 8-year anniversary promo drove people into a 'Train to Busan' - like pandemonium. So, taking out the incredible promo price out of the picture --are Zark's Burger's burgers really that good (and worth running to, too?)? So just recently I checked it out.

I love cheesy burgers, so I ordered the Three-Pointer Burger (₱149) -- with mozzarella, Cheddar and cheese sauce. I was advised to wait for 10 minutes, but it took a bit longer than that. But that was OK, it was understandable -- they had a lot of customers at the time.

So finally -- my first time to taste Zark's Burgers! I wusss eggzoited!!! 128556128556128556

Then later...

The burger was definitely huge. But except for the size, the burger left me underwhelmed. First of all, I didn't like the top bun -- the sort that leaves a dent or breaks when you press it. Kind of dry.

It would have been forgiveable if the beef patty compensates it. But alas, it wasn't good either. The taste and the texture reminded me of the frozen pre-made burgers (only a bit thicker). It was a bit sweet (it was almost like a slightly sweet longganisa), and I was looking for the beefy factor in it. You know... That juicy, beefy, tasty, greasy goodness of a good burger patty. But this Zark's beef Patty had none of these attributes.

Needless to say, I was disappointed. Even if it's priced at ₱8, I won't go for it. 128542

Praises for the servers tho -- they were nice, courteous and quite proactive.

Rating: 2.5 out 5 (rounded off to 3)

Every attempt to dine at this branch of Zark's Burgers was always in vain until last Sunday.

I went ahead and snagged seats figuring there would be a line even though it was still early for dinner. I patiently waited for their staff to come out and assist me. We were lucky enough to get a table although a bit tight.

We were handed giant heavy menus and as I scanned through it, I couldn't decide on anything. I knew I wanted bacon and a burger with some veggies to balance out the richness of what I was about to devour. My initial choice was the Shaq, a cheeseburger with bacon and fried onion strings. I changed my mind when I saw the Bacon Mound Burger with Bacon Cheese Fries.

When my food landed on the table, I instantly noticed that it wasn't exactly the same as the menu photo. I compressed my burger and sliced it into 2 for easier handling. The burger was meaty, juicy and simply delicious. I would have preferred crispy bacon but this wasn't as bad. The sandwich had cheese sauce, tomatoes, onions and lettuce. It was good as is but I added catsup, mayo and mustard for even more flavor. I really drown my burgers and fries in tomato catsup.

The Bacon Cheese Fries looked sad. The one in the photo looked way better and had more cheese. They were served cold but nothing catsup couldn't fix.

Hubby ordered the Thunder Mac 'N Cheese which he wiped out before me. I figured the burgers were the same so I didn't ask for a bite anymore. The Mac 'N Cheese was a bit bland. MIL had the Zark's Ultimate Burger.

The servers were always on their toes. They acknowledge you as soon as they notice you and come soon after. Everything was great until I handed them my credit card. They did not inform me that they were having signal problems. I was quite bothered when I saw the girl who had the credit card terminal enter from the waiting area, approach the cashier and go back out. I followed her and found her at the reception trying to get a signal and swiping my card. No apology offered even after explaining my concerns with credit card fraud and them having my card for almost 5 minutes. The only explanation given was the signal problem.

Despite the slight hiccup, I'd still come back for their burgers. Maybe I'll just pay cash next time.
