Located adjacent to Legarda Rd., is Baguio's new Italian restaurant, Zaij's Italian Fine Food, which opened late December 2015. This establishment is owned and managed by Chef Billy and his wife. This small, but elegant restaurant, makes for a wonderful and intimate times with friends and family. Their menu ranges from antipasti, pastas, pizzas, other Italian entrées, also burgers for those not craving for Italian food that day.

That evening, we ordered their tomato-mushroom bruschetta, pizza margherita, and the seafood medley as my main entrée.

The tomato-mushroom bruschetta, was good. The balance of ingredients was fresh and kept us wanting more. Though a butter toasted loaf bread was used, not Italian, or French bread, overall, I enjoyed the dish very much!

The pizza margherita was good as well. I love that, when made, cheese was incorporated onto the crust. Not many are pizza crust either. With the cheese on it, it will change minds of a lot. I would compare it to a cheese pretzel. :)))

As for the seafood medley, I really enjoyed this dish. The shrimp, squid, mussels were cooked perfectly. My only regret was I didn't ask to make my tuna seared. I love seared ahi tuna. I enjoyed the taste of the lemon sauce used on the dish. With the addition to capers, it added a good balance of saltiness and sourness. It was very good!

I'm glad that Ziaj's opened. It's location is very convenient, being close to the town proper. With minor adjustments, I believe this place has great potential, and would be able to compete with other Italian restaurants here in Baguio.

Happy Eating!!!
