Ofcourse! Our first night in Cebu, everyone agreed to have the famous cebuchon. And zubu chon in One mango mall was the most convenient place from where we were staying. We ordered their boneless zubuchon which is good for 4-7 pax (we are a group of 7), pinakbet, ensaladang talong and seaweed platter to lessen our guilt from the fatty lechon. We also ordered their famous kamias drink and turon for dessert. I can say that all their dishes are delicious. I am no big fan of lechon but I can say that this is one is the best that Ive taken so far. It is so flavorful. The veggies that we ordered were also good, nice twist with the ensaladang talong as it absorbed a lot of vinaigrette which even outs your umay from the lechon. Seaweed platter was a bit different from what we were expecting as it was plated in an unusual way. Vinaigrette that comes with it was also good. I love the kamias shake, because of the idea that I can actually drink what I cannot eat. Its refreshing and it reminds me of the kilig feeling that I get with green mango shake. The turon!!! Is superb, served differently as it comes with a yema dip. Not too sweet. Price is not cheap but I can still say that you get what you pay for because of the quality of the food. Will definitely come back here.

I'm one of those people who don't get excited over lechon. I just don't. I never really liked it. People tell me the reason is because I have never tried Cebu's lechon. Well, I got a taste of Cebu's famous lechon in the form of Zubuchon. I actually got curious because of its consistently high online ratings. Well it didn't disappoint. If all lechon tastes like this, I could have it everyday. Zubuchon also serves fabulous pancit (with a generous smattering of prawns) and yummy scallops. I also especially enjoyed the kamias shake. All in all a great dining experience! Highly recommended when you're in Cebu.

Feed me lechon and I’m all yours. Well, at least till the next 48 hours or so.

Right after my month long trip, I found myself all buckled up again to be Cebu-bound for three days. Oh hello, land of lechon (roasted pork)!

As soon as we landed, we drove to Zubuchon, a pretty popular place known for its lechon being raved by acclaimed food critic Anthony Bourdain as the “world’s best whole roasted pig”. Such comment will surely intrigue foodies and encourage them to visit the restaurant. And we were among those foodies.

Hey ho, Zubuchon! Whazzzzaaap? (Okay, that was a bit too much.)

The place was partially full when we arrived but we were lucky to be able to find a table that could accommodate our huge party of 10. We quickly roamed around the area, checked out the knick knacks on display and settled down soon after to order.

We decided to order the following: Zubuchon (1/2 kilo: PHP280; 1 kilo: PHP530), Seaweed Platter Vinaigrette (PHP100), Ginataang Langka with Daing Lapu Lapu (PHP160), Squid stuffed with Zubuchon Sisig (PHP360), Sizzling Bangus with Tampalen (PHP190), and Kamias Shake (PHP90).

The first dish that arrived was the Seaweed Platter Vinaigrette—served in three bowls (with lato, lukot and guso) and a separate bowl for the dressing which we all fell in love with.

I really enjoyed it and it sure made me crave and ready for the less healthy part of the lunch.

The other dishes were served right after.

The Ginataang Langka with Daing Lapu Lapu was a tad salty because of the fish and it was also quite spicy as I accidentally had a spoonful with chopped chili. (Ack!)

The Sizzling Bangus with Tampalen was one of my favorites during the lunch. It wasn’t salty (probably because of the onions) and the meat was really fresh. Yum yum!

The Squid stuffed with Zubuchon Sisig was also one of the dishes that would make me go back to Zubuchon. The squid wasn’t gummy at all and I loved the combination of the texture of the sisig and the squid.

As for the star of the lunch, Zubuchon, we were really expecting the best of the best of the “world’s best”. Using organic ingredients and only making use of “hand-picked pigs”, we were salivating to get a bite of it.

Eat Zubuchon with Kamias Shake to get the best dining experience... or so recommended :)

It looked like lechon kawali. The taste reminded me of one as well. The skin was really crispy but it wasn’t the type that we were used to… the oily and smooth one. Nonetheless, I loved the tender meat. It was such joy to chew it without exerting much effort. It truly proved that the pigs were hand-picked! I would have enjoyed it more though with lechon’s usual partner “Mang Tomas” or at least here in Manila. 128516

When in Cebu, you have to try their Lechon! And I tried the boneless lechon in Zubuchon. I'd say ... Putok Batok!!! Haha. But really, their lechon is good! It's soft, and very flavorful. The skin is very crispy! The way they do their lechon is the way I like it, which is why I'm giving this a go!! 128079🏻 But, would like to try a lot of their lechon featured meals. And they do have a store at the airport for pasalubong needs!

Again, during our trip to Cebu this year we tried 2 lechon resto. One of these is Zubuchon branch in Mango Avenue. Actually Zubuchon compared to Rico's is more tasteful and more appetizing to eat. I like its freshness and the tenderness of its meat. :) #loolooexplorerpackgiveaway

I used to prefer Zubuchon over CNT. But during the last visit in Cebu, we tried both CNT and Zubuchon, but Zubuchon came in short this time. We ordered the boneless lechon for our group. I find the lechon unsatisfactory, hardly flavorful. My friend said that the lechon skin wasn't crispy at all. We also ordered slow cooked adobo and dinuguan. We liked the adobo though, not the typical adobo we were expecting, it was sinfully good. The dinuguan was a so-so. We also ordered the dessert platter and instanty liked the leche flan which was not too sweet. But I cannot say the same thing on the biko and budbud kabug, these desserts just tasted bland. But okay, I am honestly disappointed because I put in good words on Zubuchon so we could include it in our itinerary.

It's not me, Zubuchon! But you just failed, not the best pig this time around.

Can't leave Cebu without having a taste of this sinful lechon of Zubuchon! I can finish this in one sitting. Hahaha. But since we'll hit the beach again in Bohol, I need to stop myself! Hahaha.

Crispy skin. Juicy meat. Tasty flavor. All the goodness of lechon and the guilt. But who cares ? This is the best tasting lechon in the whole wide world. You gotta try this and find out why Anthony Bourdain calls this as the best pork ever!!!

My order was the 150grams lechon with rice at 170php. Some observations: when you order lechon it's usually mixed parts (in Manila you can order just ribs) but this is good since you get to try different parts, no lechon sauce which is not a problem for me since I don't like the sweet sauce, lechon is cooked properly so it's tender (in Manila it's usually undercooked so it will weigh more), and best of all prices are affordable!
Back to Zubuchon, some parts had the dominant taste of pepper. Honestly, I prefer the flavor profile of CNT but I gave it a lower rating because the lechon was already cold and reheated. It was also my fault since I arrived late. I guess Zubuchon is the more modern lechon which is why the clientele are mostly from Manila (at least when I ate there) and if you ask locals they would recommend either CNT or Rico's or other brands.
For me I would say it was good (but definitely not the best pig). I would go back and eat again given the chance. But I hope I get to try Rico's tomorrow before I fly back to Manila.

I had their lechon in a sizzling plate, the one with the bones. I am not really a lechon lover but this is so good! The staff were great and the place was neat. I also ordered a lechon that I would bring to Manila. It can be picked up from the airport. Nice!

It was my first time to try Zubuchon and its good... not that great because I find too oily. Their lechon is tasty and the sauce is up to you.. They will give chopped kamias, tomatoes and You can mix them with calamansi, soy sauce, vinegar and chili oil. I must say that I prefer the lechon sauce (mang tomas) better.. Hehe!

There something different with Cebu's lechon and I am saying this in a good way. They serve it without the sauce but I still prefer it with toyomansi. I read somewhere that their kamias shake is a must-try but it was unavailable when we were there.

Though not as tasty..er, salty, as CNT lechon, the Zubuchon's version was pretty good as well, catering more to a western version(I guess) of lechon. It still delivered, though, on the high fat content :) The skin was light, flavorful and crispy, and the soft, fatty layer underneath was mouthwatering. The meat was slightly bland, and tasted like liempo but you wouldn't notice it much if you eat it together with the skin.
I love the kamias shake! It cost almost a hundred pesos but my hubby and I ordered one each for the experience. It was surprisingly not sour, just like a green mango shake. And paired very well with the lechon. Thanks to the waiter who recommended it. Galing mag-sales talk!
The menu selection had a lot of creative dishes to offer. Wish we had the time to try each one but had a tight lechon-exploring schedule so I guess we will just have to come back to Cebu soon and visit Zubuchon again.

Anthony Bourdain's best pig ever has definitely proved its tag! The meat is scrumptiously mouth watering that it melts in your mouth. It's not bland tasting like other lechons in Luzon. The meat is a bit salty and you can definitely taste the different spices used as it compliments each other perfectly. I'm sure there is lemongrass and rosemary. The skin is basked to a crisp in coconut juice. It is a bit on the salty side. By the way, you do not need gravy for Zubochon (yes it's that good), but using the local vinegar "sinamak" also is a good combination. Waiting for two hours was totally worth it! We arrived at 9am but it opened at 10 and the lechon arrived a few miniutes before 11.
