Here in Cebu for a week long fieldwork. And before that long week ends, our boss gave us a treat! Free dinner! Initially we planned to dine at Rico's near our hotel; unfortunately though, lechon was already out of stock 30 minutes before we came by. That's really sad!

Cutting it short - we ended up dining at Zubuchon. It's a funny night because Rico's have no lechon, Zubuchon too! Because we're really hungry we just settled with the following:

Prichon: fried lechon. Not bad, but not outstanding. For me, it was too dry to the point that I had a hard time chewing it.

Pinakbet: typical. But tasted good!

Stuffed squid: as per my boss; it was really good because it's stuffed with lechon sisig!

Chorizo: good. I like it because it wasn't too fatty!

Hoping to taste the best pig ever soon!

Best partnered with Kamias Shake! Their lechon is a bit sweet on the palate, but you can request to have it spicy, too. Panalo rin ang biko nila. Saka Lechon Sisig and Lechon Flakes! Affordable putok batok meal!

Eating a pig that eats only healthy meals, now that's ironic.

Cebu is incomplete without indulging in their food and so we tried Zubuchon, lechon. 128522 Anthony Bourdain's "Best Pig...EVER". Well well, it was true! For me it was good! I'm not a big fan of lechon but this one? Sorry Mang Thomas 128514 you have to place here. 128514

Btw, we dined in one of Zubuchon's branch in IT park. Not here.

We went to some malls just to look for zubuchon. Upon reaching one branch which is in IT park about past lunch, we were left with tira tira. 128514 They have delivery schedules pala. Next delivery is 5:30pm, and so waited for 3-4hours just to taste the best pig ever. 128022128022128022

Sakto! 5:30pm we got there. Ordered lechon, sinigang na lechon, rice, kangkong. 128513

Lechon - It was tasty! 128525 Although a little oily. Wapakels na! 128514 So tender! The balat is so crispy. I guess you have to go there on their exact delivery. Super sarap! Putok batok! 128076128514 Perfect when dipped in vinegar with kamias, chili, white onions and tomatoes. 128513

Sinigang na lechon - Almost all of their viands were with lechon. 128514 Lechon dinuguan, lechon mami, lechong paksiw and so many others. 128514 This one is my favorite! 128513 although too salty! 128534 Pero ang sarap e. Pero sobrang alat talaga.

Kangkong - It was not my favorite. But they love it. 128522

As they say, Lechons from Cebu are the best, and it's true indeed. I can attest to that!128523

We went to Zubuchon last May in Cebu. We dine at their branch in IT walk. I'm not sure if it just a Sunday but we're lucky that it's not jam packed. It didn't take that long for us to choose our order. It's a no brainer! 128514 Of course, we got a half kilo of lechon! 128055

When our order came, we are a bit surprised to see how large it was. We didn't expect it to be that big. 128563 Specially that we have to consume it all by ourselves- take note we are only 2.

So we started eating it. Man!!! It was so delicious!!! I've never tasted a lechon similar to that one in my 27 years of existence. I may have exaggerated it but that's true!128513 from its skin to its meat, everything was a delight.128522

Fast forward... we ended up finishing the whole thing.128514128514128514

One of the reason why I enjoy going to Cebu City is because of their lechon. I used to eat at CNT lechon but now, i enjoy Zubu Chon more. Their boneless lechon is a must try. If you want some kick on it, order the spicy lechon. My Zubu Chon experience was almost perfect execept for the price of their plain rice. A bit expensive for a very small serving. But if you are not a rice person, you will definitely enjoy this one

When we talk about lechon, Lechon Cebu will always be people's first choice -- mine included.

I went to Cebu last May with a friend. It so happened that the hotel where we stayed at is near a branch of Zubu Chon. It wasn't our first time in the province but for some weird reason, we both haven't tried this restaurant which is becoming more and more popular since people started talking about it around 2 years ago (i am not sure sa timeline actually haha).

And so we decided to try the latest talk of the town. The moment we stepped inside the restaurant, I had a feeling that it wasn't gonna be a good gastronomic experience. The tables were not properly cleaned, the floor (white tiles) was a bit dirty that you'd have the impression that the place was always packed and the employees didn't have the time to tidy up well. We stayed and ordered anyway.

We both had lechon of course -- just cooked in different ways. We weren't talking about the food that we had the whole time we were there. We went back to the hotel and I couldn't hide my disappointment any longer... I said that I wasn't happy with our lunch. Turns out that we had the same opinion. We agreed that Zubu Chon is just a "fad".

I've been to Cebu a couple of times and on one of my trips there, my friends and I ate Lechon Cebu somewhere in a market (I forgot the name of the market but we got that info from the hotel's reception).Comparing that to Zubu Chon, that tasted more authentic.

My family is a big fan of the lechon. We would always have a few in our gatherings. By now, I could actually say which one is GOOD, just ok, or (let's just say) below the "ok mark". And Zubu Chon, I'm sorry to say, didn't make it to my "ok mark". 128532

I think Anthony Bourdain should try the more authentic ones. 128522

Zubuchon for breakfast! 128055

We actually wanted to eat breakfast at Mooon Cafe but it was still closed. We then decided to eat here since it was the only restaurant that was serving breakfast (i think). Or was it their logo that helped me decide? 128541

Unfortunately, Lechon was not available at that time. So we opted to order from their breakfast menu. I ordered Slow-cooked Adobo (Bisaya) while the GF ordered Lechon Paksiw. Both were good. The adobo was bisaya so it was a bit crispy. I just wished that they served more rather than just serving 2 pieces haha

Thanks to Zubuchon, I now know that sunny side up eggs goes well with Lechon Paksiw 128521

Slow-cooked Adobo - PHP 140.00
• Three-hour, slow-cooked pork liempo in palayok over charcoal flames using only coconut vinegar, sea salt, laurel, and peppercorns.

Paksiw na Zubochon - PHP 170.00
• Prime pieces of Zubochon cooked in coconut vinegar and liver sauce

Ayos ba yung description?
Kinopya ko lang din yan sa menu 128540

Rank #2 for cebu's lechon! Crispy!

Their service was great and the skin was definitely extra crispy!!! I loved it! :) they had more skin than servings from cnt lechon.

I didn't like the sisig squeezed into the squid. It tasted kinda goofy and liver-spread like. Taste was too strong.

I'm a lechon lover, so I give their lechon a 4.0!

Will definitely be back when cnt lechon is on fullhouse :)

Kalabasa soup was a favorite light yet rich and tasteful. Zubuchon was to oily for my taste and felt dizzy after..

I really don't know what Anthony Bourdain meant in saying "its the best pig.."

Ive never been here, but got to taste their lechon by ordering it and them delivering it airport to airport... From cebu to manila airport! Awesome!

Tagged by Anthony Bourdain as the best pig ever! So i must say, he is not lying... It is the best ever lechon i ever had!

You don't need a dipping sauce... The meat is so tasty, t'was like marinated for over a day..

So, if you decided to have lechon for a feast.. Try ordering here.. P7400 for a lechon this big..

Yumyumyum!
